If the expected birth of a child is after 2007, all women, regardless of length of service, will qualify for full maternity leave. This includes 39 weeks of statuory maternity pay. They will also be allowed to work for up to 10 “keeping in touch” days during maternity leave. This also applies to adoption leave.

A comprehensive ban on smoking inside virtually every enclosed workplace will occur from summer 2007. It is best to prepare for this now, advising staff, providing information packs, and advice on where to go to help stop smoking
From April 6th 2007 UK businesses with more than 100 employees are required to have formal “information and consultation” arrangements if more than 10% of employees request this.
We recommend pro-actively setting up a consultation forum or at least being prepared. IT can compliment this in setting up an online forum board which can be managed by a forum administrator.
